Ep 11 - Wired Different: When Your Gift Looks Like a Problem

There's something in your design that keeps creating friction. In your relationships, in how people receive you, maybe even in how you receive yourself. And if it's come up enough times, you've probably started to wonder if it's just... a flaw. It's not. In this episode I'm talking about the parts of us that are most essentially us, the ones that are genuinely wired in and doing exactly what they're supposed to do, and why those are almost always the parts that get the most pushback. I'm using my own chart as the example. Specifically the channel 63-4, a logical pressure-testing channel that questions everything, and how I spent years in a long friendship softening that part of myself because it kept being received as an attack. And what I finally understood about why that friction existed and what it was actually trying to show me. This isn't about villainizing anyone. It's about what happens when you spend so long adjusting yourself around someone else's discomfort that you start to forget the adjusted version isn't the real one. We also talk about Gate 42, endings, and why letting something complete is not the same as giving up. If you have something in you that you've been told is too much, too direct, too intense, too curious, this one is for you. In this episode: The difference between a gift and how it's being received, and why that gap is information not verdictWhy the things in our design that create the most friction are usually the things our actual people need us for mostThe Phoebe problem, and why being loved as a novelty is not the same as being knownGate 42 and what it actually means to let something completeHow Human Design gives you a framework for the thing you've been experiencing as a character flawMentioned in this episode: Human Design Oracle Reading, one hour where you bring a pattern, a situation, or something you keep bumping into and we look at it together through your chart. Ep 10 - The power of music in rewiring the nervous system

What if deconditioning didn't require you to look directly at the thing you're trying to heal? In this episode, I'm sharing the origin story behind my newest offering, The Heretical Frequency — a Human Design report unlike anything I've seen done before. It started with a Fleetwood Mac song, a vinyl record, and a grief I couldn't name. And it led me to hundreds of hours of curating playlists for every part of the Human Design chart. We talk about why music bypasses the rational mind and goes straight to the limbic system — the part of your brain where feelings, memory, and safety actually live. That meaning-making part of you that says no, we have to hold onto this — music gets around it in a way that journaling and reframing often can't. This isn't just about listening to songs. It's about using sound as a somatic entry point into the parts of yourself that words alone can't reach. In this episode: The song that made me cry in 2020 and why I kept going back for moreHow repeated listening to a painful song can actually shift your relationship to itWhy music bypasses the rational brain and lands directly in the bodyHow I've been using playlists inside my Metamorphosis group programWhat The Heretical Frequency report is and how it worksThe free version you can try before you commit to the full reportLinks and resources mentioned: Purchase the full report: ayprilporter.com/heretical-frequencyTry the free Heretical Frequency (your energy type playlist): ayprilporter.com/heretical-frequency-energy-type-reportQuestions? Ep 9 - The Social Media Lie I Finally Stopped Believing

In this episode, Aypril shares a real-time update on her experiment: quitting Instagram, Facebook, and reconsidering LinkedIn — and what the first week has actually felt like. She unpacks the belief that business owners have to be on social media, and challenges it with her own data: the vast majority of her clients and subscribers come through Google, word of mouth, and email — not social platforms. So why has she kept showing up there? Aypril talks honestly about the phantom habit of reaching for apps that are no longer there, the fear that crept in after the initial relief, and why she cleaned nearly 500 unengaged contacts off her email list (and why that felt more freeing than scary). She also walks through where she's redirecting her energy: her own blog, Pinterest (a platform with surprising longevity), and growing her email list organically — channels she either owns or that have proven return over time. This episode is the first installment of what may become an ongoing series documenting the experiment, complete with metrics and reflections as they unfold. Topics covered: Why she closed her social accounts (and what the data actually showed)The phantom scroll habit and how it fadedFear vs. alignment in business decisionsCleaning an email list — and why smaller can mean strongerWhy she passed on SubstackPinterest as a long gameWhat it means, as a projector, to consolidate energy LINKS: Website: www.ayprilporter.com Free HD Fears Unmasked Report Watch on YouTube Get your personalized Manifestation without the 'Good Vibes Only' B******t Human Design report Book a Human Design Oracle Reading Human Design Parenting Book + Workbook

No Contact Isn’t a Trend. It’s What Adult Children Do to Protect Themselves

Estrangement between parents and adult children is being discussed more publicly, and so is the backlash. There’s a growing claim that no contact is a “trend,” that adult children are too quick to cut ties or unwilling to forgive. In this episode, Aypril offers a different truth. No contact isn’t a trend. It’s self-protection. It’s a choice made after years, often decades, of emotional labor, boundary violations, unmet needs, and repair that never comes. Adult children don’t walk away lightly. They walk away when staying requires self-abandonment. Aypril speaks from lived experience about the grief of estrangement from a living parent, the role of anger as a boundary-setter, and the quiet hope that lingers even after distance is chosen. She also reflects on why judgment around estrangement often comes from those who haven’t lived it, and why compassion does not require continued access. The episode closes by connecting this conversation to business and entrepreneurship, naming how unresolved grief travels with us into our work and why building a business aligned with your real capacity must include space for emotional truth. This episode is for anyone navigating no contact, considering it, or grieving a parent who could not meet them where they were.
